Do you know how many advertising agencies there are in the world?
I didn’t either. Google didn’t know. Neither did Wikipedia. In fact, I couldn’t find an answer to this question anywhere.
What would your guess be? I’d guess 25,000. No reason or basis, just a guess, but here is an even more puzzling question…
Why would anyone start another one? Why would I start another one?
You would have to be totally insane to think that the world needs more ads, right? Or to think that there aren’t already enough agencies capable of delivering creative services to the world’s industry? That the world would actually somehow benefit from the creation of yet another company wanting to deliver a service that is already provided by some countless number of agencies?
But when was the last time that you saw a really funny or gripping piece of advertising for a company with less than $5 million dollars in revenue? A billboard that reminded you that you hadn’t visited your favorite sandwich shop in a few days. A magazine ad that made you think about the last time you had gone to that little shop in downtown that you love so much. When was the last time you saw any really well done ad for any small business? I’d venture to say not very recently.
Small businesses define our economy and our culture, and yet we see relatively no marketing from them trying to drive us to their businesses. This is because they thrive on relationships, promises, and consistency. The fact is that they deliver their brand message in each of their product and service transactions. To many of them, social media is still a scary place, but a place they know they need to be. To many of them, finding actual creative talent to deliver their brand message through an ad (print, web, tv or any other channel) is much more difficult and costly than delivering the same message with their own bare hands each day.
But, what if it wasn’t hard? What if your ad agency weren’t a place that just sent you contracts for retainers to present work that should cost half of what it does. What if they cared about you no matter what your budget was? What if there was an agency that didn’t subscribe itself to the levels of bureaucracy that stifle the same creativity that it is established to deliver? What if going into your ad agency were as simple as walking into your bank to make a transaction, or dropping off a package to ship to one of your clients, or any other business transaction that works in a way that makes you feel just as valuable as any other client – no matter the difference in your budgets? What if having an ad agency wasn’t like having a $100k sports car, but more like just having a really nice and reliable four-door sedan; the car you know will always get you where you need to be?
Small businesses need an ad agency that is in their corner. They need access to the same creative talent that multi-billion dollar companies have. They need a way to break down the barriers of entry and deliver better quality and innovation than their competitors that are too big and slow to change to the shifting demands of consumers. They need a place of refuge where they can find hope, guidance and support for their company’s vision; a place that helps them in executing the delivery of a brand message they orchestrate every day. Small businesses need an agency built for them and them alone.
That is why the world needs another ad agency. That is why the world needs Crop Creative & Consulting.
Because we create opportunities that help small businesses grow…
